The chance to do something real.
Introducing our newest program. At Design Museum Boston we’re all about design education. To extend our mission, we’ve launched STUDIO. Beginning with a collaboration between the museum and Wentworth Institute of Technology, the program turns an academic studio environment into a full-fledged exhibit design studio. Students get a chance to gain real world experience producing an educational experience for the public.
Participating students work closely with Design Museum Boston and stretch their design skills across disciplines and media. Exhibits incorporate all facets of the design process from research to prototyping to implementation. They require information architecture, new media, graphic design, interior design, and fabrication. Beyond traditional design skills, students are able to develop the communication, management, and financial experience that is often missing from design studio courses. These skills will be vital as they move into their professional careers.

We’re excited about STUDIO. Students bring energy and community to Design Museum Boston; they have a fresh, honest perspective on the world that they’re looking to share. We’re giving them a real world platform to launch their message and make a positive impact.
Join us as we launch STUDIO with design students at Wentworth Institute of Technology. Follow their progress on our blog and learn about their upcoming exhibit: Retail. We’ll be announcing more STUDIO collaborations in the near future.
