Design Museum Boston has teamed up with students at Wentworth Institute of Technology (WIT) to create an exhibition titled: Life Impacted: International Design Excellence that will be presented at this year’s Industrial Designers Society of America (IDSA) national conference in Boston.

Wentworth Professors and Design Museum Boston founders, Sam Aquillano and Derek Cascio, are leading a team of 14 design students to create this exhibit from the ground up. Already a few weeks into the program, the team has designed the branding, collected artifacts, and created the overall framework of the exhibition. With the conceptual phase coming to a close it is time to begin raising funds to launch the exhibit into the production phase.

The team will collaborate with IDSA to present the products recognized as winners of the International Design Excellence Awards (IDEA). The WIT students will conceive, develop, and fabricate an interactive exhibit showing how these products affect our everyday lives. This exhibit will not only be presented at most prestigious industrial design event in the country — at the Westin Waterfront Hotel in Boston — later the exhibition will travel to other highly visible locations.

The goal of this project is to honor the winners of this renowned award and educate the public on the industrial design process. This is an undoubtedly unique opportunity for undergraduates but also allows national exposure to prospective partners (you!) who will help fund the exhibition. With the help of the community, the studio is striving to create an exhibit worthy of an award itself.
